Colossatron: Massive World Threat trailer highlights Powernodes and wacky characters

The latest trailer for Halfbrick's action mobile game, Colossatron: Massive World Threat, outlines the game's Powernode mechanics and introduces its outlandish characters.

Announced during PAX Australia 2013, players take on the role of a pissed-off giant robotic snake called Colossatron, who is bent on decimating the planet. Players build on Colossatron with distinctly colored weapons and power-ups called Powernodes. As explained in the video above, Powernodes can be combined to upgrade the nodes.

The trailer is the first in a series of reports from the game's Action News 6 team, as they cover Colossatron's ongoing destruction of Earth. The team includes lead anchor of Action News 6 and lifetime activist for robot rights, Rick Dalton; field reporter, Katie Hazard; and General Moustache, who heads the assault against Colossatron, whose hobbies include "bare-knuckle boxing, constructing armor-plated canoes and knitting."

Colossatron is expected to launch worldwide by the end of the year on tablets and smartphones. While the game was demoed at PAX Australia on iPads, Halfbrick told Polygon other platforms will be confirmed at a later date.
