Strategies and signature moves for the four new characters featured in the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter 4, a downloadable add-on for Super Street Fighter 4, has been outlined on the Capcom Unity blog by the game's producer Tomoaki Ayano.
Announced at the Evo 2013 fighting game championships, Ultra Street Fighter 4 features balance tweaks to current characters and introduces new fighters Hugo, Poison, Rolento, Elena to the roster, as well as an unannounced fighter.
Called the "Stinger," Rolento's move is effective at stopping opponent’s movements. Rolento can be a predictable fighter, according to Ayano, but players who get familiar with him can control the air and ground game. Hugo uses the "Giant Palm Breaker," which can up the pressure on opponents and drive them into a corner. Ayano advises that it can susceptible to Focus attacks and to use it conjunction with his other moves.
Poison uses a projectile attack called "Aeolus Edge," which is great for bailing opponents up in the corner. Speed and distance of the attack depends on button input. With a specialty in ground fighting with mid attacks, Elena uses the "Rhino Horn," which can be used to close the distance with opponents. More details on respective strategies are outlined on the Capcom Unity blog.
Ayano mentioned in a Famitsu interview that the developers plan to change Street Fighter "a great deal" with the upcoming content, saying that lots of fan feedback about balance was received.
"Generally you can divide it into two trends: 'Keep it as it is,' and 'I want it all changed out'," Tomoaki Ayano said. "So with this project, we decided to make it a big update, a really 'new SF4' in a way. When I say 'change,' though, I don't mean we're redoing combos or the whole structure as it exists now. What we're looking to do is get rid of the differences in character abilities that have established themselves throughout the series. I realize that some people are looking for new additions to the battle system, too-this is 'Ultra,' after all, so I'd like to do what we can in that way."
Capcom's Neidel "Haunts" Crisan previously revealed that the title will drop Games for Windows Live in favor of Steam. He also said that it will release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC "around the same time."
Ultra Street Fighter 4 will retail for $39.99 as a standalone, which includes more than $40 worth of DLC, such as past DLC costumes for all characters, along with access to future content. Those who own Super Street Fighter 4 or Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, can grab the expansion as a $14.99 add-on.
