Electronic Arts' wildly successful mobile game The Simpsons: Tapped Out has a new holiday-themed update, full of cheer, presents and raccoons. But it's clear that, based on the teaser trailer highlighting the gift-giving and receiving, the charade of this event not being specifically Christmas-themed is getting to someone.

According to the game’s latest update, the citizens of Springfield in The Simpsons: Tapped Out are experiencing a holiday windfall. A clerical error has piled on the Christmas cheer in the form of gift cards, giving its inhabitants a “new place among the economic elite.”
The update adds new seasonally-themed buildings, new rides, new decorations, new characters — like Ebenezer Burns and Mr. Costington — and a quest line “that explores the true meaning of the holidays.”
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.
