The recently remastered edition of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 includes a previously unfinished level first intended as a bonus level but later cut during development of the original title. Joystiq reports.
Lost Sonic the Hedgehog 2 level restored in remastered edition

The Hidden Palace Zone was planned as an area that is made available once players collected all of the game’s Chaos Emeralds; however, the map was left half-finished within the game’s code and accessible only through ROMs of the game.
The new Android and iOS versions of the game restore this level in its completed form. The game launches on Android tomorrow and will be updated on the existing iOS version simultaneously.
