Blockbuster will close its remaining 91 stores in the U.K. Dec. 16, a representative for administrator Moorfields Corporate Recovery told the BBC.
Blockbuster UK to close remaining stores Dec. 16

The closure will affect 808 employees. All stores will sell their remaining stock by Dec. 15 with discounts of up to 90 percent.
“It is with regret that we have to make today’s announcement, we appreciate this is a difficult time for all concerned and would like to thank staff for their professionalism and support over the past month,” said joint administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O’Reilly.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a buyer for the group as a going concern and as a result had to take the regrettable action to close the remaining stores.”
Blockbuster’s U.K. stores entered administration twice this year. Earlier this month, Thomas and O’Reilly confirmed the closure of 62 stores.
The U.S. Blockbuster operation, which is owned by parent company Dish Network, will close all corporate retail stores by January 2014.
