inXile Entertainment's Wasteland 2 is now available for purchase through Steam Early Access, giving players who didn't back the game on Kickstarter a chance to play the post-apocalyptic role-playing game before its official launch.
The release on Steam Early Access comes on the heels of the Wasteland 2 beta being distributed to Kickstarter backers earlier this week. The Steam version of the turn-based RPG costs $59.99 and will include a handful of Early Access-exclusive bonuses: a copy of the original Wasteland, two digital novellas set in the Wasteland world, Mark Morgan's original soundtrack and a digital concept art book.
inXile says it expects the final release of Wasteland 2 will cost less than the Steam Early Access version.
Wasteland 2 is "basically feature-complete," the developer says.
"We're including 30% of the game levels so you can see how Wasteland 2 plays: AI, gear, inventory, creatures, line-of-sight, exploration, world-maps, fast travel, dialogue, and more," the game's Steam page says. "We've got a cartload of quests, memorable characters, NPCs who'll be happy to join your party for a price (or for vengeance), and all the explosive fun of a radioactive monk without any of that actual radiation. During this early access phase we'll be adding even more content in the form of new levels, killer weapons and NPCs and of course fixing those pesky bugs..."
Wasteland 2, a sequel to the 1998 original, found success on Kickstarter last year, pulling in more than $3 million in pledges.
