A trailer for Freedom Cry, a DLC story campaign for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, tells the story of a rebellion against the brutal yoke of slavery.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Freedom Cry launch trailer delivers retributive justice
The DLC stars Adewale, the second-in-command to the main game’s protagonist Edward Kenway. An escaped former slave himself, Adewale trained as an assassin to bring justice to those who put him and his kin in chains.
Adewale joins a group that plans to revolt, though their successes threaten to bring the wrath of the colonial rulers down upon their heads.
As Ubisoft says, there will be no “turning away” from one of history’s most horrific institutions in Freedom Cry, even as the player knows that regardless of Adewale’s actions, slavery in the New World will endure until the American Civil War.
Freedom Cry launches on Dec. 17.
