Lightning Returns video offers a comprehensive look at the next FF13

A new video gives an overview of the story, characters and systems in the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13.

Awoken after centuries in a crystal slumber, trilogy protagonist Lightning is called back into action to save humanity from the end of the world by liberating their souls.

The video touches on the plot and return of series characters like Sazh Katzroy and Oerba Yun Fang, but primarily focuses on the the title’s gameplay systems: Lightning’s ability to freely move around areas both in and out of combat, quests that change based on the time of day, and online sharing of in-game items and pictures.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in February. For more, check out Polygon’s preview.
