Pre-orders for The Banner Saga, developer Stoic’s upcoming strategy role-playing game, will come with an exclusive pack of in-game content currently only available to backers of the game’s Kickstarter campaign, publisher Versus Evil announced today.
The Banner Saga pre-orders grant control of a Viking spearman

The Insane Viking Pack includes a new character to control — the spearman Viking, Tryggvi — as well as a unique pearl necklace that grants players a 10 percent greater chance of dealing twice the amount of damage in combat. The pack also includes three tracks from The Banner Saga’s original score, written by Grammy-nominated Journey composer Austin Wintory.
The Banner Saga was successfully funded through Kickstarter in April 2012, having exceeded its initial funding goal of $100,000 and pulling in $723,886. The game will launch for Windows PC and Mac on Jan. 14, 2014 and is currently available for pre-order through Steam, GameStop, GOG.com, GameFly and Gamers Gate.
