Operation: Cease Fire, an annual event held in remembrance of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, is underway today and asks gamers to step away from online shooters for 24 hours.
Operation: Cease Fire asks gamers to step away from online shooters today
The online event is held by GamerFitNation, a website dedicated to gaming and health. It rallies gamers together in a moment of virtual silence by asking players to “step away from their digital firearms and cease fire” until Sunday, Dec. 22 — a week after the shooting took place in 2012.
“We are simply making a statement that we as gamers are not going to sit back and ignore the lives that were lost,” the event’s Facebook page reads. “Instead, we will embrace the families with our love and support.”
