2013 was a banner year for the game industry. Microsoft and Sony brought us into the eighth generation of consoles with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, respectively, while the continuing rise of indie developers meant that self-publishing games on those new systems became an important battleground in the competition between the platform holders.
The game industry says happy holidays in 2013

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 17 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.
That’s all suspended for the time being, though, as the year winds down and the holidays arrive. We’ve collected holiday cards for 2013 from developers, publishers, platform holders, public-relations agencies and other companies in the gallery below, and we’ll continue to update this post as we receive more of them.
We’ll start off the collection with a special animated card from ReedPOP, the company behind New York Comic Con, all the Penny Arcade Expos and other conventions, followed by the full gallery.
