The next numbered installment in the Dragon Quest franchise will not have a place on smartphones — at least for the time being, creator Yuji Horii said during a Famitsu interview translated by Siliconera.
No plans to make Dragon Quest 11 for smartphones, creator says

Square Enix recently released a mobile version in Japan for its massively multiplayer title, Dragon Quest 10. However, Horii said that bringing a new game to both consoles and mobile devices is not “as easy as it sounds.”
“At the current stage, there are no talks about making Dragon Quest 11 for smartphones,” Horii said. “I believe that there’s still plenty left to overcome before we release a proper sequel for smartphones.
“Smartphones are smartphones, and they’re not game consoles. I don’t think they’ll be replacing game consoles, but rather, I believe it’s a matter of offering something to those who only have smartphones.”
Dragon Quest 10 is currently available only in Japan. The next installment in the main franchise has not yet been officially announced.
