Christopher Evans Welch, the original voice actor of Miles “Tails” Prower in the television series The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, passed away earlier this week, his agency Paradigm confirmed to Variety.
Original voice actor for Miles ‘Tails’ Prower dies at 48 (correction)

Welch passed away at a Los Angeles hospital following a short illness. He is believed to have been 48 years old.
Starting in 1993, his work on the television series was his first ever role. His later film credits include a role as the narrator in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, as well as roles in Synecdoche, NY and Sydney Pollack’s The Interpreter.
The actor had been shooting a role in the upcoming HBO series Silicon Valley prior to his death.
Correction: Despite reports to the contrary, Christopher Evans Welch was not the voice actor who portrayed Tails in The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, according to his agency. Tails’ voice actor in the cartoon was Christopher Welch, a credit erroneously applied to the deceased screen and stage actor on his IMDB profile. SEGAbits also reports it contacted a friend of Welch’s family, who called the early ‘90s cartoon role “a miscredit.”
