A new video from Avalanche Studio showing developers travelling to Costa Rica to research “complex environments for future games” appears to hint at the development of Just Cause 3.
Avalanche Studios hints at Just Cause 3 development in new video
Information gathered throughout the trip will be used on upcoming titles including the studio's current Mad Max project; however, the video description states reference material collected will be useful for many of the studio's "upcoming open world games."
“In the Just Cause games we’re in a tropical paradise,” said associate art director Andreas Oberg. “And one really important component of tropical paradises is beaches and water. However, water is one of the most complicated things to simulate in movies and computer games. So, yesterday, we were down at the beach and we were recording the water in super slow motion.
“These are all really interesting questions that we’re doing research about so that we can improve things for the future.”
Last year, the studio teased the development of Just Cause 3 in a holiday card featuring Rico Rodriguez, an air freshener decorated with weapons and the statement “Nearly there....” No official announcement has yet to be made, however.
