Latest PS3 Battlefield 4 patch fixes crashes due to movement, firing weapons, accessorizing

Electronic Arts plans to roll out a patch today for the PlayStation 3 version of Battlefield 4 aimed at increasing the game's stability by dealing with more than half-dozen routine gameplay elements that could lead to crashes in the game.

The patch fixes crashes that could occur when existing vehicles, displaying bullet damage, transitioning between multiplayer rounds, moving outside the map, firing certain weapons, opening the options menu and using too many weapon accessories.

The patch also reactivated the field upgrades "Indirect Fire" and "Perimeter Defense" that were crashing the game, fixed the on-hit kill bug, improves hit sync and ten other miscellaneous issues detailed below:

  • Fix for stuck in infinite loading screen
  • Fix for flares exploit where you could deploy flares faster by leaving and re-entering a vehicle
  • Moved an infantry spawn point on Rogue Transmission at first base that was previously positioned outside of combat area
  • Adjusted AT weapon at first base on Rogue Transmission from second floor barrack to outside on ground. Previously, players had to destroy a wall in order to reach the weapon
  • Performance fix when firing upon large destruction objects (mostly after Levolution events)
  • Minor performance optimizations
  • Fix for destroyed object parts still being visible in the game world
  • Smoother movement of networked objects (like vehicle turrets)
  • Fix for audio randomly dropping out when driving a US tank
  • SP/South China Sea: Added collision for place where player could get stuck

A bit earlier today, EA rolled out a patch to fix the one-hit-kill bug on the PS4.

Since its launch on next-gen consoles, Battlefield 4 users have reported crashes on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Earlier this week, the China Rising expansion launched, but players reported being dropped, booted and unable to connect to servers. Check out Polygon's Battlefield 4 review, which was recently updated to reflect the ongoing problems with the troubled first-person shooter.

Yesterday, EA officials said they were putting all future expansions on hold until they could resolve the current issues plaguing the game.
