Thief companion app will track player stats and leaderboards

The companion app to Eidos Montreal's upcoming stealth game, Thief, will be fully connected to the game and show the player's personal stats, it was revealed during VGX 2013 today.

Players will be able to access leaderboards, read in-game newspapers and notes and track their progress. The player's details will be updated as they play the game. This full app will launch alongside the game in North America on Feb. 25.

Eidos Montreal will also be releasing a "light" version of the app before the game's launch. This app aims to whet players' appetite through character bios, background stories, trailers, news and game artwork. The app will be free when it launches.

In addition, those who pre-order Thief through GameStop retailers will receive the fully connected app for free, along with the game's soundtrack and a bank heist mission.

Eidos Montreal also announced that it is partnering with Dark Horse to create a Thief comic.
