Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze release date announced, includes Cranky Kong

Cranky Kong will be a playable character in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Reggie Fils-Aime announced today during VGX.

In a short demo during the show, Fils-Aime demonstrated how players can team up Cranky with Donkey Kong. When players fill their meter, they gain the power to call on the Kong Pow and cooperatively take out enemies.

Tropical Freeze will also feature Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong as playable characters. For more on how the game’s co-op expands with Dixie Kong, check out our hands-on preview.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be released for Wii U Feb. 21, 2014, in North America. Although initially planned for release Dec. 6, the game was delayed in October.
