There is “no way” to make the Xbox One backwards compatible by altering its settings — and attempting to do so may brick the console, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced on Twitter.
Xbox One owners should not attempt backwards compatibility

Last week, users discovered the system's dev kit mode was easily enabled through a series of simple button presses. Soon after, an image surfaced on the internet that claimed to enable backwards compatibility by accessing the console's dev kit capabilities. Instead, the series of steps has a high chance of locking up the console.
In September, Microsoft senior director Albert Penello said that the console could eventually offer backwards compatibility. However, Microsoft has not announced any solid plans to enable the feature.
