PlanetSide 2: Behind the Battle Lines features the first audio recording session

A new behind-the-scenes video from the creators of PlanetSide 2 provides an inside look at how the audio team creates the game's music.

You can watch the video above to see the team at work. They're responsible for all the game's sounds, from animals to gunfire. According to SOE audio director Rodney Gates, the team worked hard to create different "identities" for different game aspects.

"When we started working on PlanetSide 2, one of the things that we wanted to do was establish an identity for each of the different factions that we had," Gates said. "We wanted the Terran Republic to sound like the big, bold orchestra. We wanted the New Conglomerate to sound very different, because those guys are pretty rebellious ... their style kind of leaned toward a blues-rock sound."

PlanetSide 2 was released for Windows PC and Mac in November 2012. Recently, the game received several infantry, vehicle and user interface updates.
