Indie retro platformer Another Castle from one-man developer David Byers is on its way to the Nintendo Wii U eShop, reports Nintendo Life.
Byers, who has named his solo studio Uncade, has already published mobile titles including Kid Vector and Haunted Hallway to iOS. He posted screenshots and other information about Another Castle to the NeoGAF forums' Indie Game Developer thread, which Nintendo Life reports brought him in touch with Nintendo representatives.
Byers said Nintendo Force writer Emily Rogers put him in touch with Dan Adelman of Nintendo's business development sector after she played Another Castle's prototype. Byers was officially approved to develop for the Wii U eShop and launched a Kickstarter campaign for the endeavor today.
"The eShop seems pretty indie friendly from what I've seen so far, the most important thing for me being the ability to add post release content updates," he told Nintendo Life.
Another Castle uses 2D platforming elements in a layout comprised of randomly-generated levels. Players traverse these levels looking for specific items that always seem to be out of their grasp, because they are in "another castle." Once players beat the game, the item will be unlocked for use during a second playthrough. Weapons and loot can be collected along the way, as well as stat-boosting clothing and consumables.
Byers is asking for $12,000 through Kickstarter to fund Wii U, Windows PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and Ouya versions of the game. Another Castle is slated for release in 2014, and a playable demo is available on the game's official website.
