Japanese developing and publishing company Tecmo Koei earned profits of 2.6 billion yen ($27 million) during the third quarter of fiscal year 2013, a year-over-year ratio increase of 291.7 percent, according to a company earnings report released today.
For the three-month period ending on Dec. 31 2012, the company made over 22.2 billion yen ($23.6 million) in revenue, a 6.5 percent increase from the same period in fiscal year 2012. The company forecasts full year sales will hit 39 billion yen ($419 million), a 9.8 percent increase from 2012.
Video game software contributed the most to overall sales, up 9.8 percent from last year and totaling 14.6 billion yen ($157 million). The company's video games division also carried the highest operating income at 2.5 billion yen ($26.9 million), an 83.6 percent increase from the same period in 2012.
Tecmo's pachinko and slot machines enjoyed a 118.5 percent increase from 2012 and brought in 1.5 billion yen ($16 million), and other "amusement facilities" earned 1.4 billion yen ($15 million) on a 3.5 percent increase.
The company's online and mobile sector fell 10 percent below earnings from the same period in 2012, bringing in 3.8 yen billion ($40 million) yen. Tecmo notes that it expects this to change, and its full year forecast for the sector is 6.7 billion yen ($72 million) with a 19.8 percent increase in its year-over-year change ratio.
