The Unity Engine will be coming to Blackberry 10 smartphones and the BlackBerry PlayBook when it receives the BlackBerry 10 OS update (OS10), BlackBerry and Unity Technologies announced today.
Unity and BlackBerry are jointly developing the deployment tool. A "limited number of qualified developers" will have free access to the beta version in spring with the full release hitting summer 2013 as an add-on option for Unity.
"Unity developers have an extensive catalogue of incredible mobile games, many of which are award-winning. We're excited to offer Unity developers easy access to the new powerful and rich BlackBerry 10 platform," David Helgason, CEO, Unity Technologies said in statement.
GameLoft announced earlier this month that it will optimize its popular mobile titles for Blackberry 10, such as: UNO, N.O.V.A 3: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, Shark Dash, Oregon Trail American Settler, Ice Age Village, Real Soccer 2013, The Amazing Spider-Man, Six Guns, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, The Dark Knight Rises and Let's Golf 3
