Ghostlight is the European publisher for Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, but while the game is ready to be released, the company said in a blog post that it is hesitant to launch the game, citing a weak retail market for Nintendo DS software.
"Currently the European version of the game is finished and has been approved for release by Nintendo," said Ghostlight community manager Ross Brierley. "However, without going into too much detail, retail support for DS titles is understandably low at the moment making it difficult for us to release the title."
Brierley added that the company is exploring other options, such as releasing a special edition of the game exclusively through its website.
"I've probably said too much already, but you can expect more news on this in the coming weeks," said Brierley.
Ghostlight recently announced plans to release Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, an enhanced port of the predecessor to Devil Survivor 2, on March 29 in the U.K. on DS.
Devil Survivor 2 originally launched on DS in Japan in July 2011, and in North America in February 2012.
