Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe and Ovosonico, a studio founded by Shadows of the Damned director Massimo Guarini, are partnering to create a new intellectual property, according to a press release on the developer's website.

No details about the new IP have been announced.

"There has never been a better time to contribute to the growth of the video games industry," Guarini said. "Ovosonico aims to challenge convention, to push the boundaries further and expand our medium by delivering innovative, emotionally engaging games that deeply resonate with people."

As Shadow of the Damned's director, Guarini worked with Goichi "Suda51" Suda (No More Heroes, Killer is Dead) executive producer Shinji Mikami, (Resident Evil, Project Zwei) and composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill, Sine Mora). He left Grasshopper Interactive to found Ovosonico with a goal of "designing and developing original unconventional and artistically-crafted" games.

Guarini's co-founder at Ovosonico — Italian for "sonic egg" — Gianni Ricciardi, is a composer and audio designer formerly of Ubisoft. The studio is located in Italy, about 30 miles north of Milan.
