Shoot Many Robots blasts its way free to Android, iOS coming soon

The 2D "endless gunner" shooter, Shoot Many Robots, is available to download for free from the Google Play Store with an iOS release coming soon, Demiurge Studios announced today. The release is the first step in the studio's mobile publishing initiative.

The mobile release features new gameplay with the same hillbilly protagonist, P. Walter Tugnut. Set during the robot apocalypse, gamers take on the role of Tugnut as he collects nuts and guns down killer robots through oilfields and farmlands.

Unlocks and upgrades include weird hats that grant special abilities, flamethrowers, rocket launchers and freeze rays.

The Shoot Many Robots mobile version was developed in collaboration with Owlchemy Labs, the Boston-based studio that created Snuggle Truck and Jack Lumber. A new mechanic introduced into the game is the product of their partnership.

"Joining forces with Demiurge Studios has proven to be a scientific breakthrough," said Alex Schwartz, founder of Owlchemy Labs. "Through the combined efforts of the Owlchemy scientists and the Demiurge team, we have created an awesome game that takes endless runners to a new level with our lane-switching mechanic, along with robust 3D environments, HD graphics, simple controls, and tons of action!"

"Last year Demiurge Studios set out to provide fellow robot-haters with a whole new way to demolish robots — what resulted is this super-addictive endless runner (and gunner) that we are excited to turn over to the mobile masses today," said Albert Reed, CEO and co-founder of Demiurge Studios. "It's a simple, pick-up-and-play kind of game with unique features never before seen in an endless runner. Plus, it will make the world a better place."

Shoot Many Robots was released last March for PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Windows PC.
