Ash Monif, formerly the COO and executive producer at Human Head Studios, co-founded a new studio called Grimm Bros. to create on fairy tale-themed games with a dark twist.
According to a press release, Grimm Bros will re-create classic Grimm fairy tales with the dark nature of Evil Dead and Monty Python-styled humor. Monif founded the studio with concept artist and art director Randis Albion.
"I have always been a fan of complex subject matter," Monif said. "I grew up reading the classics like Grimm, Chaucer, Tolkien — and I feel that today's games gloss over a lot of the richness that can be found within these great works. Our goal is to create classic and immersive RPG and adventure games, set in a persistent world for a community of core gamers."
Development plans currently extend only to Windows PC and tablets, and the studio is currently working on its first title. More details are expected during GDC 2013. Check out the gallery above for a look at some of the studio's concept art.
