The first gameplay trailer for Might and Magic: Heroes Online shows how the classic Might and Magic series will be making the jump into an online, browser-based world.
Players will be able to choose a hero from two factions, Haven and Necropolis, and make their way into the world of Ashan to do battle. Exploration seems largely freeform, but warfare is waged on a classic tabletop hex grid.
Blue Byte's Stefan Böhne told Polygon that the developers were trying to preserve a "core Might and Magic" experience while also lowering barriers to accessibility with the free-to-play browser-based format.
Registration for the Might and Magic: Heroes Online closed beta is currently open, and the game is scheduled for release this fall.
