Super Kart Racing seeks to bring the full karting experience to mobile platforms

Developer James Arndt is aiming to bring the kart racing experience to mobile platforms with Super Kart Racing, which is currently halfway through its Kickstarter campaign

According to the Kickstarter page, the game is being made for iOS and Android and will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes. Arndt wrote that the game's conception stemmed from what he believes is an absence of kart games for mobile devices.

"I noticed that there was a serious lack of kart racing games to be found in the mobile markets, that focused on a more realistic simulation of kart racing," he said. "Some of the titles I downloaded on my Android were pretty underwhelming. No sense of speed, limited customization, no multiplayer. All of the things missing that I think are core to a good racing game!"

The game will feature "quite a few" track layouts with a handful of unlockable bonus tracks. All tracks will have reverse configurations as well. Players will race against three AI opponents and can unlock them progressively.

Local multiplayer will be available via Bluetooth or Wifi connections through the the Prime31 Unity plugin. Arndt notes he is looking into options for internet play over 3G as well. Multiplayer leaderboards will also be available.

If funding is met the game will be available in August or September of this year. At the time of writing, Super Kart Racing is sitting at $413 of its $4,550 goal.
