Blizzard has released a new video showing a duel in its upcoming card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
Shoutcasted by game designer Ben Brode, the duel pits a player running a Mage deck as Jaina Proudmoore vs the Shaman hero Thrall. In addition to the two new heroes, this duel features new Legendary-tier cards: Archmage Antonidas from Warcraft 3 and blue dragon Malygos, the Aspect of Magic.
The duel also introduces "Secret" cards, which are only visible to an opponent as ? marks over the duelist's head. Secret cards are triggered by an opponent's actions during their turn, allowing a player to counter specific moves — for instance, attacking triggers an ability that allows the Mage to copy whichever minion it was that attacked.
Blizzard sees Hearthstone as a "stepping stone to be able to do more innovative, experimental games," the studio's chief creative officer Rob Pardo told Polygon at PAX East in March.
The free-to-play title will be available for Mac and Windows PC as well as the iPad sometime this year.
