A new Mario Party game is coming to the 3DS this winter, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation today.
It will be the first entry in the long-running franchise on the 3DS.
"The gameplay changes dramatically on each individual board," said Iwata, showing off a board that "tests your luck and character" as well as more traditional ones; there will be seven in all, each with its own set of rules. This Mario Party title will include 81 new minigames that test your speed, concentration and luck, and also play with the 3DS's hardware features. Some games use AR cards or StreetPass, and others will feature puzzles. Players will be able to enjoy the usual board games, or stick exclusively to minigames if they want.
Nintendo did not announce a title for the game.
