The studio behind Jordan Mechner's 2012 remake of Karateka considered putting the title on Wii U, but that version "never went into development," assistant producer Heather D'Evelyn told Nintendo Everything.
Liquid Entertainment released Karateka on Xbox Live Arcade last November, and on PlayStation Network, Windows PC and iOS in December. An ESRB listing from last August rated the title on those platforms as well as on Wii U. D'Evelyn said that Liquid thought about a Wii U version "at the beginning of the project but [it] never went into development."
D'Evelyn added that Liquid has no plans to make a Wii U version at this time. We asked D'Evelyn in December about a potential Android version of Karateka; at the time, she told Polygon that Liquid had "no official plans right now, but maybe in the future."
