The Creative Assembly put out a walkthrough video today showing a historic battle in the upcoming Total War: Rome 2.
The battle in question is a simulation of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, wherein three entire Roman legions were ambushed and all but annihilated by united Germanic tribes. The player, as the Roman commander, must shepherd the legions through a forest path as they fend off relentless attacks and harassment, with the hopes that some soldiers will make it through the final side to safety.
As seen in the video as well as in the historical record, that task isn't easy.
Total War: Rome 2 is out for Windows PC later this year.
