Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the portable installment of the franchise headed to North America and Europe this year, will allow players to share their creations with QR codes in North America, director of product marketing Bill Trinen told EGMnow.
The QR code functionality, which lets players share their in-game designs, were available for the game's Japanese launch last year, and will not be region locked.
"Yes, the QR codes are available in the North American version of the game as well, and will be compatible with the Japanese version," Trinen said. "So this means the QR codes from the Japanese version will work on the U.S. version."
Last week, Nintendo revealed a North American Nintendo 3DS XL bundle that includes Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The game is set to launch June 9 in North America.
