The debut game from Respawn Entertainment, the studio founded by ex-Call of Duty creators Jason West and Vince Zampella, is a futuristic shooter that pits soldiers against giant mechs called Titans, according to a Kotaku report. It's also reportedly an Xbox exclusive, coming to Microsoft's current and next-generation consoles.
According to Kotaku's report, the game is an always-online multiplayer shooter, featuring soldiers armed with weapons capable of taking down the game's agile giant mechs. Online multiplayer battles are said to be limited to 16 players at a time, but also operates "on a grand scale," with players' experience adding to the pool of their chosen faction.
Respawn has been tight-lipped about its plans since the studio was founded by the former Infinity Ward leads in 2010. The studio has said it's working on a "multi-platform product based on new video game IP," intimated to be a sci-fi shooter by publisher EA. To date, Respawn has released two blurry images of its project, but has not announced it by name or revealed gameplay details.
Respawn filed a trademark for Titan in early April and said it plans to attend E3 2013 and won't show up empty handed.
The next-gen Xbox, which Microsoft plans to officially unveil on May 21 in Redmond, is widely reported to have always-online features. Sources tell Polygon that the decision of whether a game will require an internet connection to work and if that is a one-time authentication or a constant connection, will be left up to individual publishers.
