Zynga will publish Game of Thrones Ascent, Disruptor Beam's social strategy game based off the novel and HBO series, the company announced today via press release.
In Game of Thrones Ascent, players act as a noble during a time of unrest in Westeros. Players must swear allegiance to different houses, build reputation, cultivate lands and assign different soldiers to quests.
The game attempts to be an extension of the series and closely follows the book and TV stoyrline. Game of Thrones Ascent also begins shortly after the death of Hand of the King Jon Arryn and unfolds from there. New content is being released every week to correspond with the third season of the show, which is midway through its airtime now.
Speaking about the company's new partnership, Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff said the primary goal is to "continue to iterate the game with new mechanics and features, while continuing to grow the player base."
"One thing that I've learned in my years of starting and building companies is that gaming companies cannot always be solely responsible for 100 percent of their 'hits,'" Radoff said. "Partnerships are integral to the success of any game company and any game, so we are thrilled to now be working with the amazing team at Zynga to move into the next phase for Game of Thrones Ascent!"
Game of Thrones Ascent entered open beta in February and will be available through Facebook and Zynga when it launches. Check out our interview with the game's creators here.
