First Call of Duty Championships dominated by team Fariko Impact

Team Fariko Impact took the top spot in the first Call of Duty Championship eSports competition this weekend, earning themselves the winning prize of $400,000.

The competition was hosted in Los Angeles April 5 through 7, and brought together 32 teams from across six continents to compete for cash. Team Fariko won out in the final round versus EnvyUs, another well-known team focused on Call of Duty, which took home the second place prize of $200,000.

The eight teams that made it to the final round won between $25,000 and $400,000, for a total awarded prize pool of $1 million.

Fariko Impact is part of the Fariko Gaming group, reportedly the largest organized eSports community for the Call of Duty series. The team recently participated in the 2013 Major League Game Winter Championships last month, where they took home the $20,000 first place prize in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 tournament.
