Sega's 16-bit Genesis adventure Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse may be getting a high-definition digital re-release, according to supposed Xbox Live Arcade cover art posted on VG Leaks.
VG Leaks has posted the game's digital cover for use on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The artwork looks to have been cleaned up, hinting at a possible remastering.
In February, the Brazilian ratings board listed Castle of Illusion for release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360 and Wii U. It also lists 1990 as the game's year of production, which suggests that this might not be a re-rendered edition, but just a port.
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse was published for the Sega Genesis in November 1990, and was ported to the Game Gear handheld in 1991 and to Sega Saturn exclusively in Japan in 1998. The game is a side-scrolling platformer in which Mickey must navigate perilous castle landscapes, jumping on enemies and throwing apples and marbles at them. The recently-released Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion from DreamRift and Disney Interactive Studios was touted as a tribute to the original Illusion games.
