War Thunder WWII MMO coming to PS4 this holiday season

War Thunder, Gaijin Entertainment's World War II-themed massively multiplayer online game, is headed to the PlayStation 4 "in time for the holiday 2013 season," according to a press release from the company.

The MMO, which is undergoing a beta now for Windows PC and Mac, recreates the arial and land battles with a mixture of aviation, armored vehicles and seaworthy fleets. According to Gaijin, the PS4 port will include "deeply integrated social capabilities," head tracking and the ability to record, stream and share footage, a feature Sony touted when it unveiled the console.

"We're convinced that our cooperation with Sony will not only make the War Thunder franchise better, but it will give our fans a new level of gaming experience that will figuratively blown their mind," said Gaijin Entertainment's creative director Kirill Yudintsev. "Partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment is the most natural progression for the War Thunder brand, from our hugely successful beginnings on PC with more than 1.5 million players, to our recent announcement that War Thunder is under development for mobile devices. We are excited to bring War Thunder to the leading next-generation platform, the PS4."

Earlier this year, War Thunder was included in the fifth set of Steam Greenlight games, which are brought to Valve's digital distribution service based on community members' votes.
