Nexon bringing free-to-play shooter Warface to Japan

Warface, Crytek's free-to-play online shooter, will make its way to Japanese gamers thanks to the partnership between the developer and Nexon, the companies announced in a joint press release today.

Nexon already operates the online game in South Korea, where the title just completed its closed beta phase and has just opened the doors to its open beta. Warface is also in closed beta in North America and Europe, and has been in open beta for some time in Russia, where it has racked up over 10 million players.

"Expanding Warface to Japan is a very important step for us," Cevat Yerli, CEO and president of Crytek wrote in a press release announcement. "Since it's a global IP, this move perfectly underlines our strategy in sharing the game's unique action with gamers around the world."

No announcements have been made regarding the game's jump to open beta in North America.
