Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition on sale for $7.49 on Amazon

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, the PC port of From Software's punishing action-RPG, is on sale for $7.49 through Amazon, a 75 percent discount off its retail price.

Normally priced at $29.99, the Windows PC version was released last year and includes the original game plus bosses, arenas, weapons, armor, non-playable characters and enemies that came to the console version with the Artorias of the Abyss expansion. There's no indication of how long the deal will last, but players prepared to die at a discount will need a Steam account and Games for Windows live for activation.

Dark Souls' PC port was originally criticized at its release for several perceived shortcomings. Days after its release, Peter Thoman intervened with a mod to address the default resolution and frame rate locks. Since then others have modded the PC version to allow instant summons between friends and run the game at 60 frames per second. There's even a Steam guide to help players make the most out of the game's unique multiplayer.
