Wargaming offering financial backing to Linux, Django and Wikimedia Foundations

Wargaming uses open source tools to power its games, which include free-to-play massively multiplayer online titles World of Tanks and World of Warships. According to a press statement, Wargaming supports companies it “regularly leverages” and aims to assists in their technological growth and bolster development.
The Linux Foundation is a non-profit company dedicating to growing the Linux platform, while Wikimedia focuses on the development of free content and wiki-based projects worldwide in multiplate languages. The Django Foundation works to advance the open-source framework Django and continue to develop its technologies.
“Wargaming relies heavily on a number of different open source technologies to help us create our legendary MMO universe, whether it’s using Linux to power our servers, Django to build our web project frameworks or Wikimedia to help us in our research efforts,” Wargaming solutions architect Maksim Melnikau said in a statement.
“As a company, we’d like to say thank you to all the developers, testers and users who’ve helped create these awesome tools and to let them know we’re extremely honored to hopefully help them continue their great work moving into the future.”
