Rise of the Triad, Interceptor Entertainment and Apogee Software's reboot of the Windows PC shooter, will launch simultaneously for Steam, GOG.com and Green Man Gaming, according to a recent press release.
The game will include cross-platform chat and multiplayer modes, as well as "the return of Dog mode," where players are transformed into a dog, and Shrooms Mode, which affects the character's vision. Like its predecessor, the reboot is a first-person shooter. It will feature revamped levels and classic weapons from the original such as the Exaclibat, a magically enhanced baseball bat.
Rise of the Triad will be playable during E3 2013, where Polygon will be reporting live. The game is expected to launch this summer for Windows PC at the price of $14.99.
The reboot was announced in August 2012 at QuakeCon. In order to stay true to the original game's appeal, the developers are working to recreate the "insanely ludicrous" aspects of the first Rise of the Triad.
