Death Jr. developer Backbone Entertainment allegedly planned to create new titles in a number of well-known Sega franchises, as evidenced by a number of images posted online by former Backbone artist Arvin Bautista.
The gallery of concept art and early game pitch artwork shows characters from Sega's Streets of Rage series, as well as a mock-up from a remake of the side-scrolling action arcade game ESWAT. Both titles were pitched as downloadable games for XBLA and PSN, according to Bautista's blog post; however, neither title was ever officially announced by the studio.
We have contacted Sega for comment on whether there is a future in sight for these franchises.
