Patrice Desilets was the creative director of Ubisoft's first two massively popular Assassin's Creed games. When he left in June 2010 to start a new studio with THQ, working on an open-world action game titled 1666 and a mysterious (and now canceled) project called Underdog, it made waves in the video game hotbed of Montreal. The departure was an acrimonious one, made all the more awkward when Desilets' new studio and 1666 were purchased by Ubisoft following the collapse of publisher THQ. Now, just a few months after that acquistion, Desilets is out of Ubisoft once again, saying this time the departure was "not [his] decision."
"Ubisoft's actions are baseless and without merit. I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game," Desilets said in a statement to Polygon.
