Sony offering PlayStation Mobile publisher licenses for free this summer

Sony will waive the $99 fee for PlayStation Mobile publisher licenses throughout the summer for studios interested in developing for the platform, according to posts on the NA and European PlayStation blogs.

As of yesterday, licensing agreements for the platform's software development kits will be given free of cost to as part of Sony's initiative to support independent developers. The program kicks off in European territories today, where the license typically costs €80, or £65.

"This summer we're throwing down the gauntlet for PlayStation Mobile development and are removing any existing barriers to get your brainchild of a game on this new PlayStation platform," PlayStation Mobile content acquisition senior manager Sarah Thomson wrote in a post on the NA blog.
