Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall in Japan

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, a definitive version of Team Ninja's 2012 fighting game, is set for release this fall in Japan on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, reports Famitsu.

Team Ninja released a teaser trailer for the project late last month and confirmed it would feature a new playable character, Momiji from the studio's Ninja Gaiden series. Momiji, a young Japanese woman, is an apprentice of Ninja Gaiden series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa.

According to Famitsu, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will also boast a new stage, Sky City Tokyo. It takes place around a peaceful Japanese garden in a high-rise district of the city, and a giant Buddha causes chaos in the background of the fighting action.

Siliconera reports that the game will come with the extra content that appeared in Dead or Alive 5 Plus, the re-release of Dead or Alive 5 that launched this past March on PlayStation Vita. That includes an in-game movie theater for replaying cutscenes, as well as the ability to select background music and analyze moves in detail.

More details on Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate are available in this week's issue of Famitsu, and you can check out a few screenshots on Famitsu's website. Asked if there are any plans to release the game outside of Japan, a Tecmo Koei representative told Polygon, "We will have more information in the coming days. As of now, we have nothing to announce."
