Embattled UK retailer HMV may open six stores in Ireland

HMV, the U.K. multimedia retailer that entered administration earlier this year, may return to the Irish market with up to six stores, the Irish Times reports.

In early April, Hilco, the company that assumed the retailer's debt in January and subsequently closed some stores, later announced plans to reestablish an HMV retail presence in the country. According to the Irish Times, Hilco is now negotiating with entities in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick.

Hilco acquired more than 140 HMV stores and announced plans in February to close all 16 stores in Ireland, which affected nearly 300 employees.
