Muramasa Rebirth trailer slices up a storm

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

Muramasa Rebirth publisher Aksys Games released a new trailer for the game on the PlayStation Blog today, showing off the two protagonists and their sword-slashing skills.

Rebirth is the upcoming PlayStation Vita port of Muramasa: The Demon Blade, which launched exclusively on Wii in November 2009 in North America. It was released in Japan this past March by publisher Marvelous AQL. Vanillaware, the game's developer, will deliver downloadable content for Muramasa Rebirth with four extra scenarios that include four additional playable characters and new stages.

Aksys Games announced the Blessing of Amitabha Collector's Edition for Muramasa Rebirth last month. The $59.99 retail package will come with a framed lithograph of artwork from the game, along with other goodies like a decal and pouch for the PS Vita. The game alone will cost $39.99 at retail and $34.99 on the PlayStation Store, according to a comment on the PlayStation Blog from Frank "Bo" DeWindt, director of production at Aksys.

Muramasa Rebirth launches June 25.
