Armature Studio's Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita is set three months after the events of Warner Bros. Montreal's Batman: Arkham Origins, and will feature Batman's first encounter with Catwoman.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson told Polygon that Blackgate is set in the same universe as Origins, three months after the console game ends. It will feature the same gadgets with the same functions as the console title, as well as similar takedowns and 3D cutscenes, but the game will take place in a 2.5D Metroid-style environment.
The spokesperson said that no story beats will be repeated from the console version of the game because Blackgate focuses on a brand new chapter in Batman's career. Throughout the course of the game he will develop his relationship with a young Captain Gordon and have his first meeting with Catwoman in the Arkham Universe.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is due to release globally on Oct. 25, 2013.
