Both the current and next-gen versions of Call of Duty: Ghosts will be developed by the same team to ensure that the current-gen version "isn't just an afterthought," according to Activision's CEO of publishing, Eric Hirshberg.
Speaking to Polygon, Hirshberg said developer Infinity Ward wants to provide the best possible experience on both current-gen and next-gen platforms, so to ensure that one experience isn't lesser to the other, Infinity Ward is handling the development of both internally.
"We have the same development team working on the games for the next generation and the current generation, because what this ensures is that the current generation isn't an afterthought or something that is just outsourced," Hirshberg told Polygon. "We want to be sure that we consider the things that are the innovations going into the next generation of games that the current generation can benefit from.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows PC and Wii U.
